A message from founder Adrian Whyte
Hello and thank you for visiting the Guitar Suite website.
If you’re looking for a place to learn an instrument, there are quite a few great establishments in the Melbourne area.
But if you would like to know why the Guitar Suite is a great place to learn an instrument, I believe it has a lot to do with my reasons for getting into this vocation in the first place.
Those reasons are basically this: learning an instrument gave me the tools to do so much more.
Not only were my guitar lessons once a favourite part of the week, but they gave me an escape, an outlet and a craft in which to build my self confidence and learn that I could achieve something for myself, on a regular basis, with ongoing effort and application.
Everything we do here has the above in mind – we want all of our students to look forward to their lessons, and we understand the value of what we do – it goes well beyond the instrument!
I have also imparted to the teachers that we aren’t just instrumental tutors. When a teacher shows up regularly for their student, it is not unusual that a student will seek counsel, mentorship or just someone to listen to them.
Working as a private instrumental teacher for over 20 years – I have the experience to guide all of the teachers through all of the above.
And of course- make sure the students are learning what they want to learn, in a way that works for them.
We don’t offer group lessons, which I feel are profit motivated above all.
We don’t have a one size fits all approach, which I feel is more convenient for teachers but not optimal for students.
We believe in building skills through rapport based, personalised one on one lessons and it has worked wonders.
I personally have seen many students become professional musicians, study music, or continue with a lifelong hobby and it’s a pleasure working in this field.
If this resonates with you, contact us and let us get you started on your journey.
A summary of my achievements:
A YouTube channel teaching various styles with over 3 million views in total, editor of the blues column for Australian Guitar mag from 2007-2019, Triple J play, touring in multiple bands, performed with a host of musicians including a Latin Grammy Award winner, featured on Norman’s Rare Guitars YouTube channel and I currently tour with award winning band “Sun Rising the Songs that Made Memphis”, a show covering the early rock’n’roll stylings of Sun Records Artists.
I have played thousands of gigs in all formats from solo performing to big band performances.
My proudest achievement (aside from my two kids and partner!) is this music school which at time of writing boasts over 130 students!
